Who is the Santa Clara Dance Team?
The Santa Clara Dance Team is a group of approximately 20
undergraduate students, both male and female, ranging in class
standing from freshmen to seniors. This group of dancers is
dedicated to supporting the SCU athletic teams and promoting school
spirit through the performing arts.
When does the Santa Clara Dance Team
perform?
The SCU Dance Team can be seen performing at various functions
both on- and off- campus throughout the year, including the Bronco
Bash, pep rallies, athletic events, and the Golden Circle benefit.
During the fall, the team performs at home volleyball games and
pre-season basketball games. The winter term is the most active
season for the SCU dancers when they can be seen at all home games
and local away games for men's and women's basketball, as well as
the West Coast Conference Tournament. The Dance Team performs at
Santa Clara basketball games during half-time and in-game time-outs
working in collaboration with the Santa Clara Pep Band. In the
spring, the team is often given other performance opportunities
outside of the Athletic department with time allotted to prepare
for the following year.
What is the Santa Clara Dance Team practice
schedule?
During the fall and winter quarters, the Dance Team practices
three times per week, twice on weekday nights and once on a weekend
afternoon - practice schedule is to be determined at the beginning
of the school year. In the winter quarter, members may perform up
to two times a week at men's and women's basketball games.
Appearances are also to be expected at some away games. In the
spring, practices are scheduled as needed depending on performance
opportunities.
How can students get involved with the Santa Clara Dance Team?
New students can visit the Spirit Club recruiting table during Orientation Week or Welcome Week to gather information and to express interest in joining the team.

Tryouts for returning members and current students are held in May. New member try-outs for freshmen, transfer students and current students are held during the first few weeks of fall quarter in September.
