Scott Heinrichson joined the athletic staff at Santa Clara University in June 2000 as the Assistant Director of Sports Medicine. His daily duties include administrative assignments, evaluation of athletic injuries, and care and prevention of athletic injuries for all of the universities intercollegiate athletes. His primary sport and travel responsibilities are women’s basketball and he provides game coverage and supervision for women's tennis. He is also in charge of the student trainer development program, which gives students an opportunity to learn about athletic training.
He graduated from San Diego State University in June 1995 and earned a bachelor's degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletic training/pre-physical therapy. He also holds his master's degree in Sports Administration, which he received from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
Prior to joining the athletic staff, Heinrichson was the head athletic trainer at Dominican University in San Rafael, Calif. and a staff athletic trainer at Asher Physical Therapy Clinic in Larkspur. At Dominican, he oversaw all aspects of the athletic training department, including design and implementation of rehabilitation programs, administer conditioning programs and maintenance of the athletes’ medical records.
While attending Northern Colorado, Heinrichson was a graduate assistant athletic trainer, supervising 16 undergraduate trainers in an NATA-approved athletic training education program. He also provided practice and event coverage as well as travel for 13 NCAA Division II sports, primarily men’s basketball.
Heinrichson, a native of the Bay Area, is single and resides in Santa Clara.
