Bronco Track Competes Well At Mt. Sac and Bryan Clay Invitational
The Santa Clara men’s and women’s track teams traveled south this weekend for the opportunity to face the nation's best athletes at the 56th Annual Mt. Sac Invitational and the Bryan Clay Invitational, and the Broncos took full advantage of the competitive opportunity.

Bronco Student-Athletes Top 3.0 GPA for 21st Time in 22 Quarters
With 11 Bronco student-athletes achieving a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) and 16 of the 19 Bronco teams scoring a 3.0 term GPA or higher, Santa Clara University's student-athletes recorded a 3.138 grade point average (GPA) for the Winter 2014 quarter. They also topped 3.0 or better for the 21st time in 22 quarters. Santa Clara's cumulative GPA of 3.080 continues to climb for its student-athletes as well.

Bronco Track Runs Up At S.F. State Distance Carnival This Weekend
After taking last weekend off to adjust to the new quarter, Santa Clara’s track team is back at it this weekend, running in the San Francisco Distance Carnival on Fri., April 4. SF State coach Tom Lyons started this meet in 2004 and it has grown into a really premier event and the Broncos are glad to be a part of it.

Bronco Track Scores Personal Bests At Johnny Mathis Invitational
The Bronco track team dusted off their spikes this weekend after taking a week off for winter quarter finals and competed well at the Johnny Mathis Invitational, hosted by San Francisco State University.

Bronco Track Competes Well At Aggie Opener
The Santa Clara track teams sent a small group of runners to the Aggie Opener, hosted by UC Davis, and were met with successful results that they hope will serve as a good omen for the student-athletes as they translate into finals mode, which start on Monday.

Bronco Track Prepares For Aggie Open
The Santa Clara track team will run at the Aggie Open on Sat., March 15 at UC Davis. The Broncos will compete with a short squad this weekend due to final exams next weekend. Earlier this week Bronco head coach Felipe Montoro talked about the weekend plans, training during finals and what is on tap in the next few weeks.

Bronco Cross Country Teams Lead All Student-Athletes To 20th 3.0 Or Better In 21 Quarters

Cross Country Teams Finish Season at NCAA West Region Championship
Santa Clara’s men’s cross country team finished 21st at the NCAA West Region Championship in Sacramento, Calif. on Friday. The women’s team finished 24th. The Stanford men won the title with WCC opponent Portland finishing third. The Arizona women won the title with San Francisco finishing fourth.

Sixteen Cross Country Runners Honored By WCC For Academics
Honoring 16 Broncos this year, the West Coast Conference announced the 2013 West Coast Conference Men’s and Women's Cross Country All-Academic Teams on Thursday with both Sam Holeman and Lauren Germany named to the first team. Seven men and seven women were named to the Honorable Mention list.

Bronco Cross Country Teams Both Finish Sixth At WCC Championships
Both the Bronco men's and women's cross country teams finished sixth at the West Coast Conference Championship on Saturday morning. The men scored 155 points. The women scored 194 points, topping host-Pepperdine by seven points.

The Bronco cross country team will head down to Southern California for the West Coast Conference Championship on Sat., Nov. 2. The Championship is being run at Pepperdine in Malibu for the first time ever.

Cross Country Runs A Number of PRs As Host Of Bronco Invitational
Hosting the Bronco Invitational, the Santa women won the Bronco Open and the men finished second. The Bronco women were sixth in the Bronco Invitational with the men finishing 10th without their top two runners. LMU won both the men’s and women’s titles at the Bronco Invitational, with Grand Canyon winning the Men’s Open. LMU’s men bested runner-up UC Santa Barbara 84-86.

Cross Country Hosts 8th Annual Bronco Invitational With Teams From Coast to Coast Running
Santa Clara cross country returns home Sat., Oct. 19 to host its own meet, the Bronco Invitational, at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif. It is the 8th annual running of the meet at Baylands which was previously run at Crystal Springs. The meet will be represented by teams from three different NCAA Division 1 regions with teams from Division 2, Division 3, NAIA, junior colleges, as well as two schools from Canada.

Continuing to prepare for the Bronco Invitational on Oct. 19, the Bronco cross country teams will compete at the S.F. State Invitational in San Francisco on Fri., Oct. 11. The women will run a full team while the men’s team will run just four runners so they won’t have a team score.

Men Finish 7th, Women 8th At 40th Annual Stanford Invitational
The Bronco cross country teams ran in the 40th annual Stanford Invitational, with the men finishing seventh in the 8K. They defeated West Coast Conference schools San Diego and Pepperdine. The Bronco women were eighth, finishing in front of Pepperdine and Saint Mary's. Stanford won both of the College Invitationals.

Bronco Harriers Head to Malibu For WCC Preview Meet
Already into the third weekend of cross country season, the Santa Clara distance teams will travel south this weekend to run in the WCC Preview meet in Malibu. Pepperdine will host the West Coast Conference Championship on Nov. 2 as well. The Broncos will compete against host-Pepperdine, San Diego, LMU, Saint Mary’s, Pacific (women only) and Long Beach State.

Cross Splits With Saint Mary's at First Annual Dual Meet
Under sunny and warm conditions at race time at 9 am, the Santa Clara men's and women's cross country teams continued its Friday morning, hosting Saint Mary's at Baylands Park for a dual meet. The Bronco women's team beat SMC by a score of 18-39 while the Bronco men were defeated by a score of 23-38.

Kriege Looking Back On Her Career So Far
Many of us cannot stand to run. Most of us can’t even bear to run more than a mile. For Mary Kriege (MK), her life is all about running. Running on average about 60-70 miles a week, Kriege is a machine. With outstanding records so far in her collegiate years such as 21:16 in the 6k in 2012 NCAA West Region Championship, Kriege isn’t stopping.

Ready, Set, Go! Bronco Cross Prepares For 2013 Season With Start of Practice
After a strong track season in the spring, the Santa Clara cross country team is looking to carry its track success into the fall. Most SCU students will spend their summer working a job or enjoying some relaxation. The SCU men’s and women’s cross team not only participates in these activities but they also run anywhere from 50-85 plus miles a week, coupled with strength training and cross training.

Bronco Cross Inks Four Californians
The Santa Clara University men's and women's cross country teams will welcome four runners this fall as part of the Class of 2017, with all four coming from the state of California. There are a pair of women in Kaitlyn Kuehn and Anika Renken and a pair of men in Joey Berriatua and Brynn Sargent.

Led by Oliver, Bronco Men No. 2, Women No. 6 Nationally On USTFCCCA Academic Honors Lists
Led by Kevin Oliver's selection to the national individual Academic Award list, the Bronco track programs were honored among all Division I teams on Thursday as the Bronco men posted the second-highest GPA nation-wide at 3.506 when they were named as a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team. Posting a 3.57 grade point average, the sixth-best nationally and tops in the West Coast Conference, Santa Clara's women's track team was named an All-Academic team on Thursday as well.

Emily Robinson Trains Through the Summer
The summer is a time for runners to evaluate the past season, take a week or two off to recover, analyze where they need to improve and then begin the daily grind of becoming faster, stronger and tougher than ever before. One Bronco who is doing just that is Emily Robinson; a cross country and track student athlete for Santa Clara University. After a successful 2012 cross season, running personal bests of 18:15 in the 5K at the Bronco Invite and 21:58 at the West Regional meet in Seattle, Robinson is looking to use her time over the summer to acquire some quality training.

Santa Clara Athletics, one of the founding partners of Santa Clara’s Institute for Sports Law and Ethics, will be jointly hosting the fourth annual Sports Law and Ethics Symposium on September 12 at Santa Clara University. The topic this year will be Sports Concussions: Problems and Proposed Solutions. The event’s corporate sponsors include the San Francisco 49ers, the San Jose Sharks and the Oakland A’s, as well as Manatt.

With 24 Bronco student-athletes achieving a 4.0 grade point average and four teams checking in with a 3.4 GPA or higher, Santa Clara University's student-athletes recorded a school-record 3.191 grade point average (GPA) for the Spring 2013 quarter. They also topped 3.0 or better for the 19th time in 20 quarters. Santa Clara's cumulative GPA for its student-athletes is 3.107.

Oliver Named Academic All-American Nationally; Only WCC Runner On Team & 4th in 7 Years For Santa Clara XC
With Santa Clara cross country/track receiving the honor for the fourth time in seven years, Santa Clara’s senior runner and Summa Cum Laude graduate Kevin Oliver was named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team on Friday. He was the only student-athlete from the West Coast Conference selected for the national academic honor and the only male in the state of California named to the team.
