Santa Clara Golfers Slip to 11th at Cabo Collegiate

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mex. – The University of Arkansas jumped into the lead at the Cabo Collegiate in day two of tournament play at the Querencia Los Cabos golf club in Cabo San Lucas.

Santa Clara slipped three spots, down to 11^th in the 12-team field. Just one SCU player, Cory Mehl, is among the tournament's top 20 individual leaders. Mehl shot a team-best round of even-par 72 Saturday. Ronnald Monaco posted a 73 and is joined by Rick Lamb at 10-over par and tied for 40^th.

Five Arkansas players are inside the top 10. SMU's Kelly Kraft will bring a five-stroke lead into final round play Monday. Tee times begin at 9 a.m. local time.

"Unfortunately, we've had different guys playing well at different times this year," said Santa Clara head coach Rob Miller after Sunday's second round in Cabo. "We've been really inconsistent. We scored better today but so did everybody else as the course was playing a little easier and there were better conditions. We need at least four players playing well at the same time to compete with good teams, like the ones we have here."
 
"We have three teams close to us so it will be easy for us to move up in the standings (tomorrow). Our goal at this point is to move back up to the middle of the pack. Even though we haven't played well for the first two rounds we can still have a respectable showing if we can play well tomorrow."
