FINAL WCC Men's Golf Championship Report: Ronnald Monaco Finishes Senior Year With a 2-under Par 70

2012 WCC Golf Championship – Tournament Central

HOLLISTER, Calif. –
Santa Clara University senior Ronnald Monaco finished his final collegiate tournament on a high-note, posting a final round 2-under par 70 to place 16th overall at the 2012 WCC Championships at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister. Monaco has been a four-year student-athlete at Santa Clara, and the team's lone senior in 2012.

Sophomore teammate Bobby Monaco (no relation) followed up Tuesday's team-best round of 73 with a 74 on Wednesday and placed 28th overall. However, the Broncos finished eighth in the team standings with rounds of 295, 311 and 296.

St. Mary's won its first-ever WCC team title, winning the tournament going away at 20-under as a group. The Gaels entered the week ranked No. 38 nationally and will represent the WCC men's side at the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Ben Geyer of St. Mary's was 9-under, edging San Diego's Alex Ching by one stroke for individual medalist honors.

Scott Lowe Honored for Academic Excellence

The West Coast Conference also announced its 2012 West Coast Conference Men's Golf All-Academic Team. Four members of this year's team appeared on the 2011 men's golf All-Academic Team: Anders Engell and Ben Geyer from Saint Mary's, San Diego's Leon Knoll and Mat Miller from San Francisco. Santa Clara sohomore Scott Lowe earned All-Academic honors in his first season of eligibility.
