This Week: GMU/Comfort Inn Classic
The fifth-ranked Santa Clara University men's soccer team will head across the country this weekend to take part in the GMU/Comfort Inn Classic at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virg. On Friday night, the Broncos will face the host Patriots (1-1) for only the second time in program history. In their first meeting in 1997, the Broncos came away with a 1-0 win on a neutral field in College Park, Md.

In Sunday's contest, SCU will play Loyola College (1-1) in the first meeting between the teams. Last weekend, the Greyhounds defeated George Mason, 3-2 in an overtime contest in Baltimore.

Last Week: USF/diadora Classic
The Broncos claimed their second straight diadora Classic title, while sophomore midfielder Medhi Ballouchy was named the tournament MVP as SCU went 2-0 over its opening weekend. Santa Clara jumped out to an early lead less than three minutes into its opening match against Massachusetts en route to a 3-0 victory on Thursday. The Broncos scored all three of their goals within the first 17 minutes of play, including goals from newcomers Ballouchy and Peter Lowry.

After a scoreless first half on Saturday, SCU scored four goals in the second period to post a 4-1 victory over UC Davis. With seven goals and a 2-0 record in the Classic, the Broncos were named diadora Classic Champions for the second straight year.

Ballouchy Earns National and Conference Honors
After being named MVP of the diadora Classic last weekend, sophomore midfielder Medhi Ballouchy was named to College Soccer News' National Team of the Week and named WCC Player of the Week. The conference honor was the first of Ballouchy's career, while it was his second such national honor.

Ballouchy started out his career at SCU with a bang. In the Bronco's season opening tournament, Ballouchy scored two goals and assisted on another to lead SCU to a 2-0 record and the diadora Classic title. The Casa Blanca, Morocco native also picked up diadora Classic MVP honors with his performance.
