Former Bronco Soccer Standout Shawn Percell Named Assistant Coach for Sonoma State Men's Soccer

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Former Santa Clara University men's soccer star Shawn Percell was recently named the assistant coach for the Sonoma State University men's soccer team. The Santa Rosa native was previously an assistant coach for the women's team at Seattle University. Percell joins head coach Marcus Ziemer on the Sonoma State men's soccer staff.

Percell played four seasons for the Broncos from 1996-99 and helped the team reach the 1999 College Cup. He scored seven goals and had six assists as a senior and was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player of the College Cup after scoring two goals in the Bronco's 2-1 semifinal win over UCONN. For his career, he scored 16 goals and had 15 assists.

Following his time at SCU, Percell played one year professionally in Belize before returning to the United States to play for the Seattle Sounders of the USL First Division. He also served as the assistant coach and head coach of Seattle's women's team in the W-League.
