Head coach Cameron Rast: "Tonight was another really competitive WCC match. San Diego came in with good momentum after two wins last week, but we came out very well and played our game. We were dangerous going forward and our defense was solid again. It was a good performance and great result."
Rast, on freshmen: "The freshman coming along and they get better with each game. They are really starting to understand the system and where they can be effective for us. They also bring good energy and enthusiasm every game and we rely on them to perform for us."
Rast, on unbeaten streak: "It is great that we are playing well now and we continue to gain momentum. The past few seasons we have not peaked at the right time so hopefully we can continue this run and get where we want to be. There are still some big games in front of us so we have to focus and finish the season strong."
Junior captain Peter Lowry, on team's confidence: "We are feeling really good right now. We have learned a lot of good lessons this year and we are getting better each game. Earlier this year, we had some disappointing ties but now we are figuring out how to get the goal in overtime and pick up a win instead of a tie. We need to keep it going on Sunday."
Lowry, on playing forward: "I like playing up top. It is definitely a change from center midfield, but I feel comfortable there now. I think the team is starting to understand each other really well so that makes everyone feel good out there. Our system runs off the forwards in many ways so I hope that I can keep contributing."
Freshman Chris Sauter, on goal: "It felt great to get that one. Everyone had been telling me to head the ball down all week in practice and I finally did it. Peter just played a great ball in and I was able to get really open and finish it."
Sauter, on playing right back: "It has been a tough adjustment for me this year because I had not played there much. However, with great players like Jamil Roberts, Matt Marquess and Matt Hatzke back there with me, that makes my job easier. I have learned a lot from them and I am feeling more comfortable out there now."
Sauter, looking ahead to LMU: "That is a huge game for us and we are definitely going to be fired up because they beat us earlier this year. We need a win."
Freshman Amaechi Igwe, on goal: "Brian (Martin) played a great ball from the wing after some good combo play out there. Erik (Ustruck) dummied it and I was open at the back post. I just took a touch and finished it from there."
Igwe, on WCC play: "I thought that the conference would be tough coming into college and I was right. Every team is very organized and difficult to break down so we have to play a lot of one-goal games. It is good for confidence that we have won some overtime games so now we will go into any overtime games in the future with confidence."
