Cameron Rast, on game: "Tonight was a good game between two very good teams. I thought that for the first 60-65 minutes, we were playing exactly how we wanted to play. We had the chances to be up 2-0 in the first half, but you have to give Wake Forest credit. They got back in the game and then went in front and were able to hold us off. We played well enough to win, but we didn't get it done in the end and they did."
Rast, on scoring chances: "Soccer is a game of close calls. We had two good chances to score before they got their second goal and we didn't put them away. Then they came back with a bit of fortunate goal. However, they are a good team and sometimes you have to create your own luck and they were able to take advantage of their chances better than we were."
Rast, on seniors: "I think that we have a lot of talent coming back next year, but we are definitely going to miss the contributions of Keith DeVey and Erik Ustruck. They have both had outstanding careers with us and they are guys that you just can't replace. They should be very proud of their careers."
Senior Erik Ustruck, on game: "Overall, our team played a great game tonight and we battled down to the last second of the game and we had our chances. Wake Forest is a good team and I wish them luck in the Final Four. Tonight was just a great game between two teams that put everything out there."
Ustruck, on DeVey's injury: "It was tough to see Keith go out especially since he is a fellow senior and because it was the quarterfinals of the NCAA's. I thought that we adjusted well and Jeff (Cosgriff) came in and did a great job."
Ustruck, on play to set up penalty kick: "I was waiting for their center backs to open up. We had talked about attacking their center backs all week and on that play, I saw the opening and I heard Keith (DeVey) yelling for the ball so I just sent the ball through and he was in alone. It was tough to see him get taken down at that point in the game and have him leave the game injured. "
Ustruck, on career at SCU: "Being at Santa Clara has meant the world to me. I couldn't ask for a better group of guys to play with. It has been a great four years. I would have loved to have gotten to St. Louis to finish out my career but not everything works out exactly the way you want. I have had a great time here and I feel fortunate to have been a part of it."
