SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara University men's soccer team, under the direction of tenth-year head coach Cameron Rast, will report to preseason training camp on Thursday, August 11.
The Broncos – who have won three of the last five WCC Championships – will prep for an exciting stretch of soccer, opening the season with five-straight home games, hosting Stanford (Aug. 27), UCLA (Sept. 2) and New Mexico (Sept. 4). The strong home schedule will not only be exciting for SCU fans, but will immediately challenge Rast's 2011 squad.
The team is loaded with proven talent. SCU expects to return nine all-league honorees and nine seniors. Previous All-WCC selections include: Erik Hurtado (pictured), Mykell Bates, Brandon Zimmerman, Keigo Kameya, Mark Daus, Murphy Campbell, Wesley Culver, Kevin Klasila and Eric Masch.
The Broncos won the 2010 WCC Championship by posting a 7-1-4 conference record. No other WCC program has won more games (125) over the past decade or more WCC titles (5) than Santa Clara. Rast has been honored as the league's 'Coach of the Year' four times in his nine seasons.
Contributing to the Broncos' strong soccer tradition is the team's home field advantage at Buck Shaw Stadium. Under Rast, the Broncos have gone 52-14-19 at home since he took over as head coach in 2002. The team is 211-80-38 all-time when playing at home, dating back to the program's first year of soccer in 1967.
Season tickets for all 12 home games start at $50 for adults and $25 for youth and seniors. The SCU athletic department is also offering a season ticket 'Family Plan,' which includes five tickets to every home game for just $100.
Fans can purchase tickets online (www.SantaClaraBroncos.com/buytickets), over the phone at 408-554-4660 or by visiting the SCU Ticket Office, located at The Leavey Center, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara campus, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
