Cox Advances to Round of 16 at Bulldog Tennis Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's tennis team began its fall season today, taking part in the eighth annual Wathen/Hancock Bulldog Classic in Fresno.
Senior Matt Cox was the only Bronco to advance to the Round of 16 and will play fourth seed Andrej Biznak of Washington tomorrow at 9:15 a.m.
The Bulldog Classic will include players from California, Cal Poly, host Fresno State, Nevada, Oregon, Pepperdine, Santa Clara and Washington. The format is a 64-draw singles with consolation for first-round losers, and a 32-round doubles bracket. All singles matches will be best of three tiebreak sets while doubles will be an eight-game pro set.
Santa Clara remains at the Bulldog Classic through Sunday. In singles, Round of 16 and quarterfinal rounds will be contested while doubles and consolation rounds will also take place. Action begins at 8 a.m.
