SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's tennis program closed action at the SCU Bronco Classic today with a victory in the Flight B main doubles draw. Senior Ben Hidalgo and sophomore Bobby Rasmussen paired together for a tiebreaker win over Loyola Marymount's Linas Cicenas and Carlos Malet.
The Bronco tandem advanced to the championship match with a semifinal victory over another Lion duo, Mike Chan and Ashton Politanoff.
Bronco senior Eric Kochanski also won a title, the Flight B singles consolation, with his straight-set win over Pacific's Tyler Black.
More than 80 participants from 13 West Region teams participated in this weekend tournament, which was held at both the Degheri Tennis Center and the Santa Clara Golf & Tennis Club. Players competed in three singles and two doubles flights, and consolation brackets were also included. Santa Clara results are below, and complete results can be found at tennisinformation.com.
The Broncos will return to action in two weeks, taking part in the ITA Regional, hosted by California in Berkeley, Oct. 22-26.
