PALO ALTO, Calif. - On Friday the No. 54 Santa Clara men's tennis team was swept by No. 8 Stanford Cardinal with a final score of 4-0 in the ITA Kick-Off Tournament. This is the Broncos' first loss of the season. SCU has one more match against No. 38 Vanderbilt Saturday for the third place match of the event at Palo Alto, Calif.
A bright spot for the Broncos Friday morning came at the No. 2 doubles position where freshman John Lamble and Maxime Armengaud were leading against Stanford's Alex Clayton and Ted Kelly in an unfinished match, 6-4.
"I am disappointed with the loss but I am confident the team will be ready to play against Vanderbilt tomorrow," says men's tennis team head coach Derek Mills.
Santa Clara takes the court again Sat., Jan. 29, against No. 38 Vanderbilt at Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The first serve is set at 10:00 a.m.
