SANTA CLARA Calif. - The No. 59-ranked Santa Clara University men's tennis team remained unbeaten at home, extending its home-court winning streak to five with a 7-0 sweep over Western Athletic Conference opponent, University of Nevada. Santa Clara has won three-straight overall following recent wins over UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly.
The Broncos (8-4) will host Ivy League member and 71st-ranked University of Pennsylvania at the Degheri Tennis Center on Mon., Mar. 7. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
In the doubles action Saturday, Kyle Dandan and Tom Pham paired up for the first time in a dual match this season to earn a solid 8-2 win against Victory Ouvard and Quentin Mege at the No.2 position. The freshman doubles pair of John Lamble and Keith Kamono defeated Phillip Hinojosa and Kyle Walker, 8-4, at the No.3 spot to secure the early doubles point of the match.
SCU dominated the singles action with Nicholas Vinel, Pham and Kamono topping Mege, Walker and Hinojosa, respectively, at No. 4, 5, and 6 singles. At No. 2, Maxime Armengaud defeated Victor Ouvrard in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Dandan at No.1 and Lamble at No. 3 went to a third-set tiebreaker, but they each confidently secured victory to give the Broncos a 7-0 sweep.
