Head Coach Michelle Bento-Jackson
On Chandice Cronk's performance
"In the second overtime, Chandice was not only making the big shots for us, but she was taking it a step further by doing such a phenomenal job of running her defender off of screens."
On the team bouncing back from USF's comeback attempt:
"I told the team that we needed stops. San Francisco got to the point where they were making big shots as well, and I felt like we weren't making them work hard for their shots. So we put all of our focus on the defensive end and rebounding."
On the defensive performance late in regulation and in overtime:
"Our defense really came through in the clutch for us in the end. It was important for us to play tough defense without fouling, and I thought we did just that. Sara Majors really gave us great minutes on a defensive assignment that she had tonight."
Guard Chandice Cronk
On the team's shooting heating up late:
"Teams are focusing a lot on our three-point shooting in conference play, so now we're just trying to find different ways to score. Tracey's layup late in regulation and Anna's three in the first overtime showed how we can rely on anyone at any time to hit the big shot for us."
On the team staying up despite USF's comeback:
"It's always harder to hold a lead than it is to play from behind. Especially in the second overtime we did a great job of getting stops and hitting shots when we needed to."
On her performance:
"It feels great. The team gets me the ball and has the confidence in me to shoot, so it feels good to know that."
Guard Tracey Walker
On the team's defensive performance:
"Our defense was a major factor tonight, every stop that we got was crucial, and that's what helped carry us to the win."
On the scoring balance:
"Everyone played their role really well. Last year, we had Michelle [Cozad], someone we knew was going to take over late in games, but this year since we have so many weapons, teams can't just put their best defender on our top scorer. We trust everyone to hit the big shot when it comes time, and we did that tonight."
