SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Nikki Hess was named Preseason All-West Coast Conference in 2017 and Santa Clara beach volleyball was picked to tie for third in the WCC, announced by the conference on Friday. The Broncos received 23 points in the poll and were slated to finish in a tie with Loyola Marymount.

The poll and preseason teams are voted on solely by the league's seven head coaches.

Hess earned First Team All-WCC honors during the league's inaugural season of beach volleyball in 2016. She went a team-best 12-4 in dual matches and 28-9 in sets at the No. 2 pairing, including a win against LMU at the conference championships in April.

Pepperdine was selected to win the conference for the second straight year, receiving 36 points and six first place votes. The Waves had five players named preseason all-conference.

The Broncos begin their 2017 season with four matches in two days at Stanford March 4-5. They face Saint Mary's, Stanford, Pacific and Cal.
