Softball Finishes Season with No. 20 BYU

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Heading into the final weekend of the season, Santa Clara softball hosts first-place No. 20 BYU Friday at 4 and 6 p.m. and Sunday at noon.

Last week the Broncos hosted Pacific but couldn't come away with any wins.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (12-34, 4-8 WCC) is hitting .246 as a team with a .302 on-base percentage and a .320 slugging percentage. The Broncos have scored 124 runs with 55 doubles, six triples, and seven home runs.

Ellie Fisher leads the team with a .366 batting average and 28 runs scored while pacing the conference with 20 steals. Geenamarie Bonilla has clubbed a team-best 12 doubles and three home runs and also leads the Broncos with 21 RBIs. Kelsie Barnard has knocked in 18 with a .274 average.

Micaela Vierra has a 3.80 ERA in a team-high 90 1/3 innings. She has tossed four complete games to tie for tops on the team and has fanned 44. Aubree Kim leads the team in appearances (26), starts (16), and strikeouts (48) and is tied with four complete games. She has tossed 80 1/3 innings on the season. McCall James has four complete games and one shutout this season in72 1/3 innings. Ciara Gonzales leads the team with three saves.


THE COUGARS
BYU (36-10, 9-0 WCC) is hitting .322 as a team with a .412 OBP and a .530 slugging percentage. The Cougars have scored 277 runs with 67 doubles, 12 triples, and 50 home runs.

Lexi Tarrow leads the team with a .387 batting average. She has scored 34 runs and knocked in 25 with three home runs. Libby Sugg is hitting .363 and is tied with Caitlyn Alldredge, who is hitting .360, for the team-lead with 10 home runs. Sugg also leads the team with 42 RBIs and Alldredge has 37. Ashley Thompson has scored a team-best 37 runs while hitting .321 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs.

McKenna Bull leads BYU in wins (24), ERA (1.42), appearances (30), starts (25), complete games (19), shutouts (9), innings pitched (162 2/3), and strikeouts (79). Arissa Paulson has a 2.84 ERA in 76 1/3 innings with 70 strikeouts.

Promotions: Prior to the game on Saturday, the Broncos will honor their six seniors: Amanda Delfino, Kimberly Goulart, Taylor Bojorquez, Ciara Gonzales, Geenamarie Bonilla, and Gianetta France. The ceremony will being at 11:40 a.m.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to first pitch. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
