Third Season at SCU |
Vanessa Chagoya was named assistant coach for the Santa Clara
University softball program prior to the 2010 season. During her
first two years, she has focused on developing the outfielders and
working with the team’s left-handed hitters. The 2013
season will be her third on the SCU coaching staff assisting Lisa
Mize.
She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science, with a
minor in Kinesiology from San Jose State University in 2009.
Chagoya’s previous coaching experience includes being a
volunteer coach at Santa Clara University, working with the
outfielders, giving private lessons for players of all ages,
coaching a 7-8 year old girls team and running softball
camps and clinics for players, ages 7-18. Chagoya
played Division I collegiate softball herself at SJSU from 2005
to 2009.
Chagoya has gained additional experience as a mentor and educator
while working as a substitute teacher and a paraprofessional for
elementary Physical Education in the Santa Clara Unified
School District since 2009. Finally, Chagoya upholds Santa
Clara University’s commitment to community service,
volunteering in classrooms and mentoring students in various
subjects.
