Women's Tennis to Compete at Bulldog Classic

This Week Santa Clara women's tennis will continue fall season play at the Bulldog Classic in Fresno, Calif., this weekend, Oct. 27-29.

At the Saint Mary's Invitational Santa Clara opened the fall season last week at the Saint Mary's Invitational. Although five of eight Bronco players advanced to the Round of 32 in the singles draw, all were eliminated their next time out. And although Megan McKitterick lost in the first round, she advanced two rounds in the consolation bracket before falling to Alisses Ali-Christie of UC Davis 7-6 (5), 1-6, 7-6 (5). In doubles, Liz Oliver and Jennie Siegel advanced to the Round of 16 while the tournament's fourth seed, Christine Limbers and Nicole McCord reached the quarterfinals.

In the Rankings Santa Clara is not ranked entering the season, according to the WingspanBank.com/ITA rankings. Additionally, there are no singles players or doubles tandems are ranked.

Head Coach Aby Ryan Aby Ryan (San Diego '90) enters her sixth season at the helm of the Santa Clara women's tennis program. She has led the Broncos to four straight winning seasons and is the second winningest women's tennis coach in school history. Boasting a 59-53 record, she has guided the Broncos to four straight fifth-place finishes at the West Coast Conference Championships. During the 1997 season, she led the team to a school-record 16 wins.
