Women's Tennis Tops CS Northridge

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's tennis team defeated Cal State Northridge 5-2 this afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center. The Broncos' overall record improves to 7-5 with their third straight win, while the Matadors' record falls to 2-9.

The Broncos swept doubles and added a second point to their lead with Nicole Jackson's 6-1, 6-0 victory over Sonja Kumar on the sixth singles court. Kelly Leathers and Janalle Kaloi followed with Bronco wins to clinch the team victory. Catherine Cochrane added Santa Clara's final point.

Northridge avoided the shut out with wins on courts four and five, by YuYu Myinttun and Kasia Krasinska.

The Broncos return to action after winter quarter finals, and will drive up the peninsula to take on top-ranked Stanford on Monday, March 22 First serve is scheduled for noon at the Cardinal's Taube Family Tennis Center.
