McBride Makes Final In Singles And Semifinals In Doubles At Saint Mary's Invitational

Moraga, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's tennis team continued its impressive play at the Saint Mary's Invitational on Saturday in Moraga. Junior transfer Lindsay McBride led the way as she advanced to the finals of her bracket in singles and reached the semifinals of the doubles draw with her partner, Myra Davoudi. McBride will play the singles final and doubles semifinal on Sunday morning. Overall, the Broncos won five more matches Saturday to boost their total to 17 match wins on the weekend. Casey Knutson also advanced to the semifinals of the consolation bracket and will play Sunday morning.

McBride breezed through the quaterfinals 6-1; 6-2 against Christine Feyen of Pacific before battling through an tough three-setter against Megan Doheney of Stanford in the semifinals. McBride took the first set 6-2 but lost 6-3 in the second to force the third set. The Texas Christian transfer dug deep and earned a 6-2 win in the final set to reach the final. She will take on Ly-houng Dinh of Nevada on Sunday. Dinh has knocked out Knutson and Davoudi on her way to the final.

McBride then teamed with Davoudi to win 8-2 in the doubles quarterfinals against a pair from Pacific to get through to Sunday.
