SCU Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 To Wyoming

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's tennis team lost a hard-fought battle to the University of Wyoming Saturday morning at Degheri Tennis Center. The final score was 5-2. With the setback, the Broncos dropped to 3-10 on the season, while the Cowgirls improved to 10-4 overall.

Wyoming entered singles action with a one-point edge after earning the match's doubles point. The Cowgirls posted wins at the first and third doubles spots as Corina Lazar and Rebecca Berger swept Myra Davoudi and Stephanie Galainena, 8-0. The Broncos evened the score with a No. 2 doubles win. Lindsay McBride and Carmen Pham teamed up to storm past Michelle Brown and Carly Van Hollen, 8-4. However, it was Wyoming who pulled out the crucial doubles point with an 8-6 win at the No. 3 position.

The Broncos earned their two points at No. 3 and No. 5 singles. Pane produced a straight set triumph over Sarah Summerfield at the No. 5 spot. The score was 6-4, 6-2. At the No. 3 spot, Davoudi rallied to defeat Brown in a first set tiebreaker 7-6 (0) and then went on to storm through the second set, 6-0.
