Women's Tennis Falls to Fresno Pacific 4-3

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Broncos fell to Fresno Pacific yesterday in a 4-3 loss at Degheri Center. The Broncos are now 1-4 in the season, while Fresno Pacific picks up their first win of the season.

In doubles, the freshmen duo of Kacie Wagner and Kimmi Cox won their match against Yulia Blinovskaya and Elizabeth McFeentens 8-4. Senior Stephanie Galainena and sophomore Ashley Pane were defeated by Ornella Gentile and Maria Klokotzky 8-5. Senior Myra Davoudi and sophomore Carmen Pham lost their match 8-6 against Katia Sabate and Vanessa Heroux.

In singles, Galainena triumphed over Klokotzky 6-4, 6-1 to win at the No. 1 position for the Broncos. Wagner and Pane also picked up singles wins, with Wagner defeating Heroux 6-3, 7-5, and Pane defeating McFeentens 6-4, 6-4.

Head coach Ben Cabell was proud of the team's efforts against Fresno Pacific. "Stephanie had a great win for us, she played smart and showed great leadership at the No. 1 position in singles. Kacie and Ashley also really stepped it up today."

The Broncos will compete against USF on February 13 at 2:00 p.m. in San Francisco.
