Bronco Women's Tennis Heads Out To Portland For Doubleheader

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Santa Clara women's tennis team will take to the road for the third time this season to face Portland and Montana over the weekend. The Broncos will face the Pilots Saturday at 11 a.m. and then compete against the Grizzlies Sunday at 10 a.m.
Santa Clara is 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in West Coast Conference play. Last weekend the Broncos defeated UC Santa Barbara 4-3 on Feb. 14.
In the last meeting between Portland and Santa Clara, the Broncos defeated the Pilots, 6-1, on Feb. 28, 2009. Later on in the season, Santa Clara fell to Portland in the second round of the 2009 WCC Championships. Currently the Pilots are 1-3 this season after their recent 2-5 loss to No. 47 San Diego State on Feb. 6.
Montana and Santa Clara have not played against each other since 2007. In that match-up, the Broncos defeated Montana 6-1 on Mar. 16, 2007. Montana is 1-3 this season.
