SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Bronco women's tennis team, fresh off an encouraging performance at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Regional tournament, will close out its fall season at the Irvine tournament held on Nov. 13-15. Two Santa Clara freshmen earned multiple victories at the ITA Regionals this past weekend at Stanford.
"Like all of our fall tournaments, we did well at the ITAs," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "We're getting better at each tournament and all of our young players are doing very well."
Rookie Kelly Lamble made it to the Round of 32 in the main draw, defeating opponents from Sacramento State and Washington before falling to Cal Poly's Brittany Blalock, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(11), while classmate Maggie McGeorge fell in her second round match of the main draw, but advanced to the quarterfinals of the consolations draw after defeating Portland's Megan Sporndli, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(6).
