Santa Clara, Calif. — At the West Coast Conference Championships, the No. 5 seeded Santa Clara women's tennis team swept past No. 8 Gonzaga 4-0 (the match was then suspended due to the Bronco victory). The Broncos advance to the second round to play No. 4 Loyola Marymount on Thursday, April 26 at 12:30 p.m. in San Diego, Calif.

If Santa Clara wins Thursday, it will advance to play No. 1 seed Pepperdine in the semifinals on Friday, April 27 at 12:30 p.m. Pepperdine is ranked No. 38 nationally by the ITA.

The doubles point was won by the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams for the Broncos. Katie Le and Jessica Agra defeated Kristina Zauere and Katie Edwards 8-4 while Kelly Lamble and senior Kacie Wagner topped Sophie Lantta and Kylie Peek 8-5.

The Broncos then swept the first three singles matches to end the Bulldog's WCC run. No. 49 Le, Alexandra Zaniewski, and Lamble all beat their opponents in straight sets.

Santa Clara now moves forward to the LMU match Thursday. During the regular season, the Broncos won the doubles point against the Lions but could not put away the singles matches, only winning two out of the six, and therefore lost by a tight score of 4-3.
