Volleyball Inks Two on National Signing Day
Santa Clara, Calif. – Santa Clara Head Volleyball Coach Jon Wallace announced the 2011 Bronco signing class on Wed., Nov. 10, 2010. The 2011 Santa Clara class includes Katy Schatzman, pictured on the right (Presentation HS, San Jose, Calif.) and Taylor Milton (Cathedral Catholic HS, San Diego, Calif.).
"Both Katy and Taylor fill a need for the program, but more importantly both are experienced competitors and come from winning programs," said Bronco volleyball Jon Wallace. "Their athleticism and winning tradition are what we are looking to add to our program. Both play for clubs that are always nationally ranked and playing for the national championship every year."

High School Experience: Will be a 2011 graduate of Presentation High School was named to the AVCA watch-list and awarded Second Team All-San Jose Mercury News her junior year and honorable mention her sophomore year … team won the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions and earned the No. 1 national ranking … her club team, Vision Volleyball Club, won a medal at last summer's Junior National Championship.
Personal: From San Jose, Calif. … parents are Andy and Peggy Schatzman … has an older sister Sarah and a younger brother Danny … father played football at Santa Clara and mother Peggy is an alumnus as well … grandfather played in the NBA.
Coach Wallace on Katy: "We are very excited to have Katy join the Bronco family. She has been a strong player and leader on every team she has been a part of. She brings a lot of experience on the club level as a member of the Vision Volleyball Club. She medaled last summer at the Junior National Championship and was also captain of her club team. Presentation High School was ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation and she is one of their best players and also a captain. I really believe her athleticism and leadership abilities will greatly enhance our program. Both her parents are Santa Clara alums as her father played football for the Broncos."
Why Katy Chose Santa Clara: "I choose Santa Clara because of the strong volleyball program and strong academics. I also really liked the team and coaching staff at Santa Clara."

High School Experience: A 2011 graduate of Cathedral Catholic … member of two-time California State Championship team and three-time CIF championship team … received All-Tournament team honors four times … and was named athlete of the month and week on separate occasions … club team won Junior National Tournament Championship.
Personal: From San Diego, Calif … parents are Jeff and Renee Milton … has a younger brother Cooper … father swam at San Diego State University and mother swam at North Carolina State University she is now a professional triathlete.
Coach Wallace on Taylor: "Taylor is an explosive player that will add a great deal of athleticism to our program. She is the first left-handed attacker we will have in our program, which will add the great dynamic to our court and will make it very difficult for our opponents to defend. Along with her fantastic playing ability, we are excited to have a proven winner on our team in hopes we will return to the NCAA Tournament as the WCC champion in the near future."
Why Taylor Chose Santa Clara: "I chose Santa Clara because I really like the strong volleyball team and Division I athletic program. They also have a very notable School of Communication."
