Broncos Set Commissioner's Honor Roll Record for Second Straight Year
The West Coast Conference announced its 13th annual Commissioner's Honor Roll Tuesday, and 141 Santa Clara Broncos were recognized with honors for their athletic success and academic excellence. Santa Clara had 18 student-athletes receive gold honors (3.75-4.00 GPA) and 33 student-athletes receive silver honors (3.50-3.74 GPA). The Broncos set a new record of student athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, breaking the previous mark of 133 in the 2012-13 school year.

Volleyball Welcomes Back Bronco Alum Emily Burke As An Assistant Coach
Spending the past year in Switzerland both playing professionally and coaching, Santa Clara volleyball is thrilled to welcome back Bronco alum Emily Burke ’11 as an assistant coach. Playing in all but one set her senior year for the Broncos, Burke finished at SCU in the top 10 of career assists and assists average.

Bronco Sand Defeats Cal 3-2 To Close Out Season
Santa Clara wrapped up its sand season on April 18 with a 3-2 victory at Cal. The Broncos finished their second season of sand with a 7-8 record, falling six times to top 10 teams.

Bronco Sand Finishes Season At Stanford, Cal This Week
Santa Clara’s sand team will play its final two matches this week with a 3:30 pm match on Tues., April 15 at Stanford and a 4 pm match at Cal on Fri., April 18. In its second year, Santa Clara is 6-7 this season. Stanford is 3-8 and Cal is 3-5.

Bronco Sand Travels To Sacramento This Weekend, Saint Mary's Monday; Victory Over Host-Stanford Highlights Last Weekend's Play
Santa Clara’s sand volleyball team will travel to the state capitol this weekend to play Boise State (3 pm) and host-Sacramento State (6 pm) on Sat., April 5. They will return to the Bay Area to play No. 9 Saint Mary’s on Mon., April 7 at 4 pm.

Bronco Sand Plays At Stanford Vs. Two Top Six Teams This Weekend
Santa Clara sand travels up I-280 North a few miles to play at Stanford on March 29 and 30. The Broncos will face host-Stanford, No. 3 Hawaii and No. 6 UCLA on Saturday. The teams will play the Stanford Pairs Tournament on Sunday. This week Bronco head coach Jon Wallace (JW) talked about the team’s goals in practice this week, what they are looking to accomplish this weekend and how rain could be a factor.

Santa Clara defeated San Jose State Wednesday 5-0 in sand volleyball. The match was considered a home match for the Broncos even though both teams train and play at Los Gatos High School in Los Gatos.

Santa Clara Sand Hosts San Jose State on Wednesday
Santa Clara's sand volleyball team will host San Jose State on Wed., March 12 at 4 pm at Los Gatos High School in Los Gatos. The match will begin about 4 pm with No. 5 and No. 4 playing each other and then about an hour later No. 3 and 6 will play. No. 1 and 2 will play each other after the matches vs. No. 3 and 6 conclude. Bronco head coach Jon Wallace (JW) chatted on Tuesday about last weekend's 1-1 record at Pacific and this week's challenge in hosting San Jose State.

Bronco Volleyball Opens Sand Schedule This Spring At Pacific Saturday
Santa Clara volleyball opens play this weekend at University of the Pacific in its first sand match of the season. SCU will play at host Pacific at 9 am on Sat., March 8 and then play San Jose State at 12 pm. Volleyball Upsets WCC's First Place Team In Four, Defeating No. 21 BYU At Home For Second Straight Year
Putting the West Coast Conference’s top team on their heels by taking a 2-0 lead to start the match, Santa Clara held on to win 3-1 vs. No. 21 BYU on Saturday afternoon at the Leavey Center. Set scores were 27-25, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-23. It is Santa Clara’s second straight win over BYU at home in as many years.

Volleyball Wins At Portland In Four
The Bronco volleyball team got back in the winning column on Saturday by beating winless Portland 3-1. Set scores were 25-13, 25-18, 26-28 and 25-17. Santa Clara is 8-13 and 3-9 in the WCC. Portland is 0-22 and 0-13. It is Santa Clara’s first win since its 3-1 vs. Portland on Oct. 3. Down 2-1 sets to one to rival Saint Mary's, the Broncos rallied to push the match to five sets on Saturday afternoon but despite having two set points, SCU couldn't hold on and lost in the fifth set 17-15. Set scores were 16-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-15 and 15-17.

Thinking they’d scored set point in the four stanza, the Broncos were whistled for an illegal substitution and No. 23 BYU went on to keep its record perfect at home, winning 3-1. Taylor Milton: A Rising Leader
The transition from being an underclassman on the court to an upperclassman is a sizable change. And this change does not come without the onset of many responsibilities. The expectation is that as a junior or senior athlete on the floor, you know exactly what is going on at all times and what needs to be done to put your team in the right position to win. Becoming a leader physically is one thing, but it is another to become an all around leader in a sport like volleyball that is filled with ups and downs. Taylor Milton, a junior outside hitter for Bronco Volleyball has stepped into these very shoes.

Volleyball Plays Two Matches At Cal, Return For Home Opener Vs. Cal Poly Saturday
After facing two of the nation’s top 10 teams last weekend in Hawaii, Santa Clara won’t take any easy outs this weekend either as the Broncos travel to Cal to play Kansas State Thursday and No. 23 Cal Friday. The Broncos then return home to play upstart Cal Poly on Saturday in the team’s home opener at 2 pm.

Santa Clara finished off its trip to Hawaii on a high note with a 3-1 win over New Mexico State on Saturday night. Game scores were 25-22, 17-25, 25-16 and 27-25. Santa Clara will play Kansas State Thurs., Sept. 12 at 5 pm at Cal as part of the Cal Invitational.

Rallying for the second straight night against a top 10 team to a fourth set, Santa Clara couldn’t hold on in the end and fell 3-1 at No. 9 Hawaii. SCU is 2-3 and Hawaii is 4-1. Hawaii won the match 25-23, 25-15, 25-27 and 25-17. Santa Clara closes out the tournament with an 8 pm Pacific match vs. New Mexico State.

Travelling west from the Bay Area for top 10 competition normally means one thing – the Broncos are headed to Hawaii! They play in the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic from Sept. 5-7 at the Stan Sheriff Center. Santa Clara will start off with No. 10 UCLA on Thurs., Sept. 5 at 8 pm Pacific. Volleyball Wins Two in Final Day of Fresno State Invitational
Playing three matches in less than 24 hours, including two matches in about 5 hours on Saturday, Santa Clara put away host Fresno State 3-2 and defeated Rice 3-1. The Broncos finished the weekend 2-1 and now prepare for the Hawaii Invitational next weekend on the Big Island.

In the hunt for its 15th NCAA tournament bid, Santa Clara, led by 2013 preseason All-West Coast Conference selection Megan Anders, begins the 2013 season Fri., Aug. 30 when it plays Cal State Northridge at 7:30 pm at the Fresno State Tournament in Fresno, Calif. The Broncos start quickly, playing three matches in 24 hours with SCU tangling with host-Fresno State at Noon on Saturday and then Rice at 5 pm.

Bronco Volleyball Adapting Well To Double Days With New Faces, Returners
The Bronco volleyball team is in the midst of a few weeks of double and triple days prior to their season opener on Aug. 30 vs. Cal State Northridge in Fresno, Calif. With nine returners and nine newcomers, including eight true freshmen, Santa Clara head coach Jon Wallace (JW) has his hands full with two-three practices a day, planning every minute, film between the on-court sessions, including individual film sessions and team bonding. Senior and knock-out player, Megan Anders (MA), used her vacation time this summer to travel down to the Dominican Republic to help share her love for volleyball with underprivileged children.

Bronco Student-Athletes Post Highest Recorded GPA; Top 3.0 for 19th Time in 20 Quarters
With 24 Bronco student-athletes achieving a 4.0 grade point average and four teams checking in with a 3.4 GPA or higher, Santa Clara University's student-athletes recorded a school-record 3.191 grade point average (GPA) for the Spring 2013 quarter. EYEBRONCO: Volleyball's 2013 Season Poster Photo Shoot and Player Interviews
A few of the members of the SCU volleyball team took a study break to have their pictures taken for the upcoming Fall 2013 season's poster on June 4. EYEBRONCO reporter and women's soccer player Sofia Huerta took advantage of all these outstanding student-athletes being in one place and asked them a few questions about the past spring season and their plans for the summer, as well as what they are looking forward to as they embark on a new season.

Volleyball Releases 2013 Schedule, Includes Tournaments at Fresno State, Hawaii and Cal
Coming off of a strong 2012 season, in which the Santa Clara volleyball team earned the school’s 14th NCAA Tournament bid, the Broncos will have to work just as hard in the 2013 season, as their schedule has only increased in difficulty.
