Athletics Hall of Famer Mickey Adza Passes Away

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara Athletics Hall of Famer Mickey Adza '49 passed away peacefully on January 12. Adza was a center on the Bronco football team from 1945-49 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1983.

Adza had a hand in almost every aspect of student life. He tried his hand at basketball and track, even intramural Handball, proving his athletic prowess was not just relevant on the football field. The boy from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, was VP of Student Congress, ASUSC President, Block "SC" Prelect, Solidarity Treasurer and a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, Sanctuary Society, Choir, Glee Club, B.A.A, and "The Santa Clara".

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Walnut Creek. In lieu of flowers at the service, Mickey often said "how much better it would be to say the kind words and surprise someone in your life with flowers now so that both of you can enjoy them together."
