SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara cross country rolls on in championship season on Friday at the NCAA West Regional Championships. The women's 6k race begins at 11:30 a.m. and the men's 10k race is set for 12:30 p.m. at Colfax Golf Club in Colfax, Washington.
The top two women's and men's teams earn an automatic berth to the NCAA National Championship Meet. Individuals from non-automatic qualifying teams can earn a spot in the national title race if they are among the first four finishers in the top 25.

WOMEN'S 6K – 11:30 A.M.
Janie Nabholz has led the women's side in all five of her races this season and finished in the top 20 four times. Her 6k 21:21.80 was good for 16th place at the West Coast Conference Championships on Nov. 1. The team captured sixth, matching their best finish at the event since 2011.
Nationally ranked teams in the women's field include Stanford (2), Washington (4), Boise State (13), Oregon (19) and Cal Baptist (30).
Associate head coach Pete Cushman: "We've been very consistent this season and have continued to get a little better with each race. I'm confident we can take that momentum into regionals and have our best overall performance of the season."
MEN'S 10K – 12:30 P.M.
The Broncos enter the race ranked 13th in the region, their highest ranking of the 2019 campaign. They captured fourth place at the WCC Championships on Nov. 1, marking their best finish at the event since 2011. Jorge Estrella topped the team with a 26th place 24:47.78 in the 8k; he has led the group in three straight races.
Nationally ranked teams in the men's field include Stanford (4), Oregon (6), UCLA (10), Portland (11), Washington (14) and Boise State (27).
Head coach Felipe Montoro: "I'm very excited to watch the guys compete. If we can stay focused and execute our plan, we will have a great opportunity for one of our best finishes ever at this meet."
