Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball – Eamonn Lance
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the fourth member of its incoming recruiting class for the 2019-20 season, Eamonn Lance.  The power-hitting catcher/outfielder comes from Sir Francis Drake High in San Anselmo, Calif.  where he was named first team All-California and second team All-America by MaxPreps last season.
"The reason I chose Santa Clara is because it fit all of my priorities.  The coaching staff and I really connected as I felt comfortable and that I fit in with them.  I also felt their knowledge of the game would help make me become the best possible player I could be.  In addition to baseball I wanted to stay relatively closer to home and attend an established academic institution where I could receive an outstanding education.  After visiting the campus, it struck me that I could make Santa Clara my home for the next four years," said Lance.
The 6-foot-1 Lance, who bats and throws right, belted 11 home runs as a junior, tied for the third most home runs in the state en route to being named Player of the Year of the Marin County Athletic League.  In two varsity seasons spanning 57 games, Lance hit .379/.467/.726.  Last season, 24 of his 40 hits went for extra-base hits.
"Eamonn is a catcher/outfielder who is really athletic as he can run and hit for power.  He really came into his own with the bat last year when he hit 11 home runs. He is a very gritty player who plays the game hard and we are really attracted to that aspect of his game," said Broncos head coach Rusty Filter.
Our next future Bronco, August Souza, will be announced the week of Dec. 17.
