SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's golf returns to a team-format event this week with a spot in the 17-team Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, hosted by the University of the Pacific. The field will play a single 18-hole round over three days starting Monday at the 7,315-yard, par-72 Reserve at Spanos Park.
Freshman Alex Conley qualified for the Broncos five-player team by leading a group of four individuals at last week's Bill Cullum Invitational with a 2-under 214. Conley will swing alongside senior Matt McCarty, juniors Berk Harvey and Zack Kaneshiro, and sophomore Konrad Brauckmeyer. Oscar Zimmerman will compete as an individual.
Following their runner-up finish at the season-opening Firestone Invitational and a sixth-place showing at the prestigious Alister MacKenzie Invitational, the Broncos popped up at No. 71 on the recent Golfstat.com poll.
Santa Clara's last appearance in this event resulted in a team title two years ago with a 4-shot victory over BYU. McCarty tied for ninth and Kaneshiro had his best finish as a collegian with a share of 14th.
First-round action is schedule to start at 7:45 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available by clicking here.
