SPRINGVILLE, Utah – Santa Clara women's golf began final round play Tuesday at the 17-team Hobble Creek Fall Classic in 10th place and that's where they finished, wrapping up the maiden event of the fall season with a 306 for a three-round team total of 906.
The Broncos were led by sophomore Claire Choi, who had a career-best finish by tying for fourth with a tournament total 3-over 216. She topped the squad in all three rounds shooting 71-72-73. Choi was three swings off the pace of medalists Cristiana Ciasca of Wyoming and Jocelyn Chee of Cal Baptist. It was the second top-5 for Choi, who had a solo fifth last February at The Gold Rush.
In a tightly-contested battle for the team title, Cal State Fullerton's 878 total was one-shot better than New Mexico (879) and two-strokes better than Northern Arizona (880).
The Broncos return to tournament play in two weeks at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, which takes place at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.
