SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer heads to Gonzaga to take on the Bulldogs Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Broncos opened the week with an incredible three-goal second half comeback against Pepperdine on Wednesday.
Santa Clara is 22-1-2 all-time against Gonzaga with the first meeting coming in 1993. Last season the Broncos topped the Bulldogs 1-0 at Stevens Stadium and have won 10 in a row in the series.
Santa Clara (9-5-2, 3-0-2 WCC) is averaging 2.69 goals per game, good for seventh in the country, while outscoring opponents 43-21. The Broncos have a 257-151 edge in shots and a 130-84 lead in shots on goal. Their 46 assists and 2.88 per game are tops in the West Coast Conference and third and fourth in the nation.
Kelsey Turnbow leads the team with 29 points and 10 assists, 11th and 12th nationally, respectively, and is second with 10 goals. Izzy D'Aquila's 11 goals pace the Broncos and she has 25 points, 25th in the country. Kelcie Hedge has scored five times to go with six assists and Maddy Gonzalez has scored four times with four assists. Machaela George and Alex Loera have both scored three goals with six others scoring once apiece.
Courtney Ogren has 59 saves for a .738 save percentage. The Broncos have picked up seven clean sheets on the year.
Gonzaga (10-4-1, 3-1-1 WCC) has outscored opponents 35-17 and outshot teams 246-185 with a 128-66 edge in shots on goal.
Madelina Gotta leads the team with six goals and is tied for second with three assists. India Jencks has a team-high seven assists and three goals. Samantha Heilman and Lauren Elwer have both scored five times with eight other Bulldogs scoring.
Isabel Jones has allowed 14 goals and has a 1.26 GAA while making 34 saves for a .708 save percentage. Gonzaga has six shutouts this season.
