The facility, which debuted on Feb. 19, 2016, has state-of-the-art dugouts, bullpens, batting cage and press box. A concession stand is being constructed and will open for the 2017 season.
Three years prior to the stadium debut, Santa Clara softball played its first true home on the Mission campus. On Feb. 9, 2013, the Broncos served as host to a doubleheader with the University of the Pacific in the debut of the SCU Softball Field.
Since 1979, the softball team had called various fields and locations “home.” A local park and a junior college seven miles away were the previous versions of Santa Clara softball’s home diamond. Practices were held on campus with the team, fans and others having to go off-campus to watch competitions.
