Berkeley, Calif. -- The Santa Clara men's water polo team kicked off the NorCal Open with a hard fought 15-4 loss to powerhouse UCLA. The Bruins are the #3 team in the nation. The Broncos went down 3-0 in the first three possessions and just could not much closer all game.
"After that start we actually played pretty well," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "We played better throughout."
Goal scorers for the team was Josh Early, Andrew Fitch, Stephen Hobbs, and Matt Adler who all had one goal. Luke Oda and Liam Ferrell contributed two kickouts drawn apiece. Mike Sorgenfrei added two assists.
The Broncos play their next game against UC-Davis.
