Berkeley, Calif. -- Santa Clara dropped a tough one today against UC-Davis in the second game of the opening day of the NorCal Open. It was close throughout, but in the end, the Broncos could not get the win against one of the top teams in the WCC.
"They played a better 6 on 5 game than we did," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "I think that was the difference in the game."
Liam Ferrell scored twice and Luke Oda, Josh Early, Stephen Hobbs, and Tommy Hendrickson all scored once in the effort. Nike Poggetti had two kickouts drawn along with two steals. Charlie Moore and Matt Adler each added two kickouts drawn as well.
Robert Callahan played a solid game in the cage, recording 12 blocks and two steals.
"Our young guys are getting a lot of playing time," said Wilbur. "The team just keeps improving."
The Broncos start day two of the tournament against Air Force tomorrow morning at 9:20 at Mirani High School.
