After opening the season with a win, the 16th-ranked Santa Clara Broncos lost a 9-8 overtime heartbreaker to George Washington on Saturday at the Princeton Invitational. SCU falls to 1-1 on the season with the loss.
"It was a really back and forth game," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "It was just a tough way to start the day." Josh Early and Tommy Hendrickson led the Bronco scoring with two goals each.
Mike Detoy contributed a goal and three kickouts drawn in the effort. Liam Farrell, Stephen Hobbs, and Tommy Kelly all scored a goal for the Broncos as well. Robert Callahan was strong in the goal for Santa Clara, recording 13 blocks along with 2 steals and an assist.
The Broncos finish off the day against #10 Navy at 2:10 p.m.
