CLAREMONT, Calif. - For the third season in a row, the No. 15 Santa Clara men's water polo team concluded the WWPA Championship with a fourth place finish. The Broncos fell to No. 11 UC Davis in the third place game, 8-6. Redshirt junior Jack Wall led the SCU offensive attack with five goals and drew two kick outs. He was named to the tournament first team for his performance this weekend. Santa Clara's other tournament honoree was junior Liam Farrell who was named to the second team.
The Broncos, who faced Davis this season three times, falling in the last two meetings, took a 4-3 lead going into halftime. After taking an immediate lead, Santa Clara could not hold onto the point advantage as the Aggies went on a 5-2 run to take the game.
While SCU fell in their final contest of the 2008 season, there were several bright spots in the game. In his final collegiate game, redshirt senior Chris Parolin drew four kick outs and assisted on a goal and freshman goalie Michael Wishart had 13 blocks in the cage.
Santa Clara concludes 2008 with four conference honorees, two players with tournament team accolades and remained in the top-20 rankings all season.
