The 13th-ranked Santa Clara men's water polo
team finished up their final day of the Princeton Tournament this
afternoon by defeating two more East Coast teams.
The Broncos were relatively unchallenged in a 17-2 victory over
Harvard and defeated Johns Hopkins, 11-8.
Against the Crimson, freshman Tucker Carlson had a standout game
with four goals. Junior James Case had three tallies while
senior Stephen Hobbs and junior Josh Luebke had two goals each to
round out the multi-goal efforts. Junior Brett Zylstra,
junior Daley Meistrell, sophomore Marcus Akerland, senior Mitch Klipa, freshman Theo Nasser, and freshman Travis Greco each scored
one goal.
Klipa and Zylstra combined for six steals, three each, while
Luebke and Zylstra had three assists each. Meistrell,
Akerland, and Case all had two assists each. Junior goalie Michael Wishart had 10 saves in one half of play and sophomore goalie John Nash had five saves in the second half.
In the second game of the day against the Blue Jays, Hobbs
scored two more goals, bringing his weekend total to nine.
Meistrell had six points: three goals, three assists, and two
steals. Klipa had two goals, while Zylstra, Akerland, Case,
and Greco had one. Zylstra also added three steals and drew
two ejections and Case had an assist, a steal, and two KOD.
Wishart blocked 13 shots and had an assist.
