Santa Clara, Calif.—After ending No. 8 Gonzaga's WCC Championship run yesterday, No. 5 Santa Clara put up another convincing 4-0 win to upset No. 4 Loyola Marymount in San Diego, Calif. today. The Broncos move on to the semifinal match against No. 1 Pepperdine on Friday, April 27 at 12:30 p.m.

"I could not be more proud of the team today," said head coach Ben Cabell. "After losing to LMU in the regular season, we prepared well and came out with a lot of energy. And that transitioned into a solid win today."

Starting the day off with doubles, Broncos Katie Le and partner Jessica Agra led their match against Ashley Anderson and Tory Parravi to a 8-6 win. Kelly Lamble and Kacie Wagner then battled to pull out a tight 9-7 win and secure the doubles point.

In singles competition, No. 49 Le defeated April Bisharat in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. At the No. 5 position, Jessica Agra closed out Miya Jin of LMU in straight sets also, 6-3, 6-3. Senior Kacie Wagner closed out the match with a win over Elisaveta Pironkova by a score of 7-6, 6-3. With Wagner's win, the remaining three singles matches stopped and the Broncos won 4-0.

If Santa Clara beats No. 1 seed Pepperdine tomorrow, it will advance to the championship match against the winner of the No. 2 Saint Mary's and No. 3 USD match on Sat., Apr. 28 at 12:30 p.m. Pepperdine has yet to play a match at the WCC Championships.

"With Pepperdine, we know all the pressure is on them. For us it is just another match. We know we have a chance and will put forth our best effort tomorrow to win in order to play for a championship," said Cabell.
