PORTLAND, Ore. – Santa Clara women's tennis dropped its conference opener on Saturday at Portland by a score of 4-3.
Santa Clara (4-6, 0-1) won the doubles point with victories on courts one and three. Senior Daniella Silva and sophomore Madison Clarke won 6-1 on court one for their fourth straight doubles victory. The duo is now 6-2 on court one in dual match play. Juniors Zeina El Tawil and Giannina Ong earned a 7-5 win on court three to clinch the point for the Broncos.
Clarke earned her second straight win on court one, defeating Jelena Lukic by a score of 6-4, 6-2. The sophomore is now 8-1 in dual play this season. Ong picked up a come-from-behind victory on court six with a 0-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Anna Oberg.
The Broncos head to Washington for a match at Gonzaga on Sunday at 11 a.m. PT.
