Women's Tennis Rolls Past Arizona Christian, 7-0

PHOENIX - Santa Clara women's tennis began its weekend trip to Arizona with a convincing victory over Arizona Christian.

The Broncos (2-3) won all six singles matches in straight sets and dropped only two games in doubles.

Nadine Del Carmen clinched the match by defeating Sydney Smyth of Arizona Christian 6-3, 6-2 on court No. 6.

Playing at the No. 1 position Madison Clarke, a native of Phoenix, downed Mikayla Morgan 6-1, 6-1, giving Santa Clara a 2-0 edge. Elvena Gevargiz followed with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Elizabeth Kelley of Arizona Christian on court No. 5.

Clarke teamed with Maddie Pothoff at the No. 1 position in doubles and they cruised to a 6-0 victory over Autria Compton and Maria Garduno of the Firestorm.

On court two, Gevargiz and Katya Tabachnik clinched the doubles point with 6-1 win against Morgan and Kelley.

The Broncos play at 20th-ranked Arizona State on Saturday. The match is set for noon Pacific and will be live streamed.
