HAYWARD, Calif./STANFORD, Calif. — Santa Clara track & field's record-breaking season continued on Friday at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. Joey Berriatua set the program record with a 9:00.50 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Chabot College. His mark comes in at more than six seconds below Michael Delaurenti's 9:06.84 from the 2008 Brutus Hamilton Invitational.
The Broncos had a large contingent of runners at the carnival on Friday and Saturday and sent Jack Davidson to Cobb Track and Angell Field for the 1,500-meter run at the Stanford Invitational on Friday.
"Overall, we had a pretty good two days of competitive racing and we are looking forward to upcoming events," head coach Felipe Montoro said. "In addition to an outstanding performance from Joey Berriatua, Hannah Wood had a great double."
