Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

No. 19 Men's Water Polo Falls In OT

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — No. 19 Santa Clara men's water polo and No. 20 Brown played an evenly-matched contest that saw the teams exchange blows from start to finish and then some on the final day of the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament. Unfortunately for the Broncos, Brown scored three straight goals in overtime to secure the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Santa Clara (10-11) led 5-4 after the opening period and held a slim 8-7 advantage at the half. Chase Raisin scored four first half goals to lead the charge.
  • Brown tied the game up in the waning seconds of the third period at 11-11 and the teams exchanged goals in the fourth period. Cody Ferguson scored the go-ahead goal with 3:14 remaining, but Brown answered a minute later. Both teams locked in defensively for the remainder of regulation to force overtime.
  • Brown struck first with less than 30 seconds to play in the first overtime period, and tacked on two more in the second period to grab control.
  • Raisin scored a late goal for the Broncos inside the final minute, but that was as close they would get.
  • Raisin finished the game with a career-best seven goals while Ferguson, Gojko Kapovic and Bennett Stafford each scored a pair. Kapovic also had a game-high five assists.
  • Goalkeeper Harrison Labrosse made 10 saves.

NEXT UP
