Men’s Tennis Signs Portuguese National Junior Team Player

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis signed Tiago Boschmans, a Portuguese National Junior Team player, to join the program as a mid-year enrollee for the upcoming spring 2024 season.

"The reason why I chose Santa Clara as my home for the next four years is because first, I feel confident with the work that coach Niall will do for me and the team and also as everybody knows Santa Clara is amazing academically and has a strong athletics program."

Boschmans reached a career-high ITF junior world ranking of 289 on the strength of winning seven ITF junior doubles titles and reaching four ITF junior singles finals. He is also a two-time Portuguese National Doubles Champion.

"I am excited to announce that Tiago will be joining our program this January," said Broncos head coach Niall Angus. "A very talented junior with multiple ITF junior doubles titles, Tiago is a player with a massive upside. Throughout the recruiting process it became clear that Tiago was the sort of player who wanted to test himself at the highest level and that level of drive is an exciting prospect for us. I am looking forward to Tiago showing the Bronco family and the WCC what he can do in the maroon and white!"
