Box Score PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 19 Santa Clara men's water polo extended their winning streak to three-straight to open the season, taking down Iona, 14-11, on day one of the Princeton Invitational. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• It was a tight affair from start to finish with both teams scoring three goals in the opening period. The Broncos took a slim 7-6 lead into the half.
• The third period would prove to be the difference-maker as Santa Clara outscored the Gaels 5-3 to grab a three-goal advantage at 12-9. Each team tacked on two more goals in the fourth. 
• Bennett Stafford was one of eight Broncos to find the back of the net as he scored four goals to tie his career high. 
• Zach Fales and Michael Kreienkamp scored three and two goals, respectively. 
• Gojko Kapovic, in just his third game as a Bronco, tallied seven assists to pace the team. He also came away with three steals, tying Max Hendrickson for the team lead in that category. 
• Wyatt Stenson started for the third-straight game in the goal and came away with 11 blocks. 

NOTABLE NUMBERS:

• 13 - Zach Fales added three to his team-leading goal tally to bring his season total to 13. 
• 3 - Hendrickson's three steals tied his career high.

• The Broncos have a great opportunity ahead on Saturday with a pair of ranked opponents on the docket for the second day of the Princeton Invitational. Santa Clara will take on No. 15 Navy at 8 a.m. PT and No. 6 Princeton at 2 p.m.
