Five Broncos Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

Five Broncos were named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention Friday.
SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The Santa Clara University men's water polo program had five student-athletes honored Friday on the 2024 West Coast Conference All-Academic Team. All five of them received honorable mention accolades.
 
Redshirt junior attacker Max Hendrickson, junior center Reese Jenican, redshirt junior center defender Ben Kyrillos, junior goalkeeper Harrison Labrosse, and sophomore utility Grant Roesch were all honored. It's the third conference all-academic honor for Jenican, who was named Western Water Polo Association All-Academic in 2022 and WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2023.
 
Hendrickson, who carries an impressive 3.677 Grade Point Average in his finance major, appeared in 19 games for the Broncos, contributing two goals, five assists, and 10 steals. He delivered key defensive performances, including a career-high three steals against George Washington on Sept. 21. Hendrickson landed on the 2023-24 WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll with "Silver" Honors.
 
Jenican boasts a a 3.392 GPA in his accounting major. He led the Broncos in drawing 51 exclusions and finished third on the team with 32 goals. He also added 21 steals and eight field blocks. Jenican's season included a career-high nine exclusions against San Jose State. His previous academic recognitions include WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention and ACWPC All-Academic "Excellent" Honors for the 2023-24 school year.
 
Kyrillos is an environmental science major with an outstanding 3.700 GPA and was a defensive force in all 24 of Santa Clara's games. He tallied 21 steals, 14 assists, and 18 field blocks, ranking second on the team in the latter category. He also scored seven goals and drew three exclusions. He had a career-high four field blocks versus Biola on Oct. 12. Kyrillos earned ACWPC All-Academic "Superior" Honors in 2022 and '23, and landed on the 2023-24 WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll with "Silver" Honors.
 
Labrosse holds a 3.338 GPA as a computer science major and anchored the team as the starting goalkeeper in 20 games, amassing 204 saves and a .486 save percentage. He recorded double-digit saves in 13 contests, including a career-high 15 versus UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 5. Labrosse's career academic accolades include ACWPC All-Academic "Superior" Honors and WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "Bronze" Honors in the 2023-24 school year.
 
Roesch earned his first WCC All-Academic honor in his first year of being eligible for the award with a 3.227 GPA majoring in history. Roesch showcased his versatility across all 24 games, scoring seven goals, grabbing 18 steals, and dishing 13 assists while adding eight field blocks. Roesch's had a career-high three steals and a season-best two-goal effort versus George Washington on Sept. 21. He was also recognized with WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "Bronze" Honors in 2023-24.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while being a significant contributor to their team and in at least their second year at their school.
