Women's Tennis Unable to Finish Off Nevada

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis team got out ahead 3-1 against Nevada but could not close the deal, falling to the Wolf Pack 4-3 on a warm Saturday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Santa Clara (2-4) won the first two doubles matches to quickly clinch the doubles point and took two of the first three singles matches to take a 3-1 lead. 
  • Nevada (2-1) came back with a pair of three-set victories to knot the match up at 3-all.
  • Kennedy Robinson got the 3-all clincher on court six defeating Maria Antonova in three sets.  Robinson dropped the first set 6-7 (5-7) but won the final two sets 6-2, 6-1 to complete the Wolf Pack comeback. 
  • JennaMarie Gordon won both her doubles (along with Velizara Fileva) and singles matches. 
  • Varya Zlotnik won the other singles match for Santa Clara.
NEXT UP:
  • The Broncos head to San Luis Obispo, California to face Montana State on March 2 in a neutral site match before taking on Cal Poly on March 3.
