Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Women's Water Polo Battles For Seventh Place Tomorrow

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo opened the first day of the Golden Coast Conference Championship Tournament dropping to No. 9 Fresno State with a final score of 22-6. Both Elle Fredrickson and Malaya Wright finished the game with two to their names. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Bulldogs were able to start off the first period holding a shutout against the Broncos, finishing the first period at 6-0. 

  • Midway through the second period, Wright knocked the first goal for the Broncos after the assist from Francesca Moynihan. The score at the end of the first half was 12-1. 

  • As Fresno State was able to tally four more, Fredrickson got a piece of the action on a power-play. Less than a minute later, Chloe Morrison found Fredrickson again putting the score at 17-2. 

  • To close out the third period, Sydney Maccabe let one loose into the back of the net. The score at the end of the third was 17-4. 

  • Haley Tassell came off the bench to start the last quarter of the conference game. Following a few minutes later, Wright showed her offense once again tallying a goal, cutting the score to 18-5. Morrison recorded the last goal for the Broncos off an assist from Kate Rodman, finalizing the score 22-6. 

 

UP NEXT

The Broncos will face either CUI or Azusa Pacific tomorrow morning at 10 a.m for a seventh place battle.
